As those who follow me know, I recently attended Expo West, the worlds largest natural products expo. I packed in as much as I could into the one day I was able to attend this year, meeting a great many companies. From time to time I want to share these companies with you, my readers.

If I didn’t already know, living in Washington State, that CBD is a big deal, I would have quickly caught on while touring the expo. You can now find CBD products everywhere and in many forms. Pills, lotions, creams, tinctures, the list goes on and on.
So why am l talking about CBD today? I first became aware of the benefits of CBD infused lotions, when a friend offered me some after a run. Remember peeps, I am 55 this year. I take care of my body inside and out, but we all get aches and pains occasionally. It happens when you are an aging runner. I am blessed, I will say that, I don’t have arthritis or any other ailments yet. After using it for the first time and feeling better, I wanted to learn more. While Expo West, I had the opportunity to meet and speak with several companies specializing in CBD production. Pure for Life was one of those companies and they generously agreed to partner with me to help my readers learn more.

What is CBD?
Many people think when someone mentions using CBD, that it is marijuana. It isn’t. I’m about to go all science nerd on you, so skip ahead if you don’t want to know this stuff… CBD is a phytocannabinoid. That means it supplies plant-based cannabinoids. CBD is found in marijuana as well as hemp, the plant used to create many CBD products. THC is the chemical found to have the psychoactive effects in marijuana, not CBD.
Why are cannabinoids important? Our bodies brain, tissue, endocrine and immune systems are regulated by the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system plays a vital role in helping to maintain good health. CBD is said to mimic the bodies natural endocannabinoids and this is why so many people are deciding to try another approach to managing their stress, anxiety, pain and inflammation. How do you choose which product to use? I connected with Pure For Life at their booth during the expo. Then I did my research, because hello, biologist. I needed more information. Pure for Life products are 100% natural, non-GMO, made from hemp grown in Colorado and GMP Certified pesticide-free using their patented Low-Pressure Extraction technology.
What does that mean? This method, according to Pure for Life, “is specifically designed to capture and preserve the most vital elements found in the plant.” Ok, that translates to a better cleaner product in terms of taste, smell, look and feel. To learn more about their process, click here.
Why try CBD?
As CBD becomes more well known and widely accepted as an alternative to pharmaceuticals, we will see long-term studies being done and reported. As with anything out there, how it effects your body will be different from one person to the next. I am sharing with you from my own personal experience.

After a long run and after a particularly rigerous upper body work out with weights, I had aching muscles. I used Pure for Life’s Soothing Cream and rubbed it into the specific areas where I needed it most. Since my pain was very localized, I wouldn’t have used a gel tab or a tincture. Within 30 minutes, I had significant relief, the tenderness was gone. I also loved that they use natural lavender oil to scent the cream.
After trying the CBD cream and seeing how well it worked, I started asking friends and acquaintenances who I knew had a CBD product. Those who are arthritis suffers find the tinctures help with their overall body inflammation, while the lotions and creams help them target any specific area where the pain is more intense. Several friends have used the tincture to relieve symptoms of anxiety, stress and overall general mood. Please note: these are anecdotes and not the result of clinical or preclinical studies.
While many friends swear by the use of the softgels or the tinctures, I have not used them. I am definitely intreged by the flavored tinctures Pure for Life makes. They would definitely make an amazing additive to a recipe! Maybe I will experiment with them and come up with a few fun recipes for my friends! Stay tuned…..
As with anything, first consult your physician or naturopath and do your own research before using any new product.

USADA and WADA have cannabis on the ban list. I am assuming it is because of THC, do any of these products have USADA and WADA clearance??
That is a great question Julie! As I don’t compete, I will defer this question to those more learned than myself. I would contact Pure for Life directly through the link provided or at sales@pureforlife.com. I do know from reviewing the USADA website that they do make the distinction between cannabis and cannabinoids which contain THC in a very high quantity, but allow Cannabidiol (CBD). Again, always check with your physician, the manufacturer and any agency as required prior to using the product.

I have tried CBD in the past and it didn’t do anything for me. I’m going to try the product mentioned and see if it can help me. Very informative post. Thank you. I know CBD can help and I guess it depends on the person and the product being used.
You should go to my IG post and do the giveaway so you can try the cream and the tincture. I’ve heard wonders about the tincture for anxiety.
