Galentine’s Day?
Have you been hearing about this unofficial holiday lately? I’m here to tell you what it is, why we celebrate it more and more every year and why you shouldn’t wait for a made-up holiday to celebrate the amazing women in your life. Are you looking for a few awesome ideas? Do you need a reason to grab your friends and go?
“Galentine’s Day“ started on the 16th episode of the during the second season of the television series, “Parks and Recreation.“ In the episode, Leslie, the character played by Amy Poehler, gathered her females friends together so the ladies could celebrate ladies. It’s a totally made-up holiday created on a fictional television show. Wow! Right?!
From that first airing less that 10 years ago until now the phenomenon and celebrating has grown. More and more women are throwing Galentine’s Day events and everyone is jumping in with both feet, and why not?
Reason #1….Who doesn’t love spending time with their tribe of inspiring women?
This year was the first time I attended a Galentine’s Day themed event. Hosted by Boho Chic Boutique, located at the Seattle Premium Outlets, we had a wonderful Galentine’s Brunch last Sunday. Tickets were $10 and included all the fun!
Alice’s Table Bellevue held a floral workshop where we learned how to create a beautiful “Gal”-entine’s arrangement. At the end of the workshop we got to take home our beautiful masterpieces.
Reason #2…..Really? A Foodie and a wonderful buffet and a mimosa bar? Um, yeah! After all that hard work we definitely needed replenishing.
A photo booth and plenty of time to try on the most wonderful outfits topped off the event!
Reason #3….. Trying on clothes with your besties and taking photos too? You know there is nothing better than to stroll through a shop with your gal pals, everyone, ooohing and aaaahing at pieces here and there. Shouts of, “Oh! You have got to try this on!” followed by lots of cheers when you emerged from the dressing room looking divine while Color Street and Lipsense hosted pop-up tables for us to get our pretty on!
Yes! I’m all over that. It’s also a great way to meet other women you wouldn’t run into in the normal course of your daily life. Fast friends who are right there with you laughing and cheering.
Topping it all off photographer Jenna K was there capturing our fun!
We went home happy and full of great memories…and a swag bag! Even better is we knew that $2 of our ticket went as a donation to Homeward Pet Adoption, how awesome is that?
A special thank you to Boho Chic Boutique for creating and hosting this event. It’s fantastic to have a wonderful morning celebrating with my tribe and a reason to get pretty here north of Seattle! @bohochicboutque2017
